PLEASE READ all the information below, as this is a collaborative project and if your story does not meet the criteria then it can’t be part of the anthology.

It’s Thursday January 2nd 2020, the first working day of the new year.

Lavinia Halliday, social worker at Quonsettville Regional Correctional Facility, a women-only prison in the northern Vermont town of Quonsettville, is ready to start the new year. Her diary is filled with appointments, and she is hopeful that 2020 will bring peace and harmony, stability and hope, to the prison’s 50 inmates.

The opening story that sets the action for Women Behind Bars is Expand or Die: click here.

PLEASE NOTE: all action in the anthology must take place on the one day. Yes, it is possible to include flashbacks but the key action must take place on Thursday January 2nd 2020.

It’s a good idea to email us at edpureslush@live.com.au with your story idea first … we would hate for you to write a story and then find it does not fit the parameters of the project … or find that someone else has written the same story before you.

We’re looking for Drama! Scene-stealing! Camp! High camp! High drama! Catfights! Bad food!  Rivalries! Hair-pulling!

(Are we looking for serious exposés? Well, no … imagine if Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Ida Lupino, Gloria Grahame and Barbara Stanwyck were all cast in the same film noir / woman’s film– yeah …)

That’s what we’re looking for!  Dark, dramatic, and damned!  All on the one day!

PLEASE ALSO NOTE: Euphoria Rivers, the central figure in The Shitlist, will not be making a appearance in Women Behind Bars.
