The Tyranny of Bacon

“I’ve been vegetarian for ten years but I still miss bacon …”

“What’s better than bacon? More bacon!”

“A day without bacon is a day wasted.”

Admit you hate bacon because “It’s too salty and too fatty” and listen to the jeers: “But that’s what’s so good about it!”

Is it possible to say “No bacon, please” and withstand the incredulous stare of the person serving you?

Has bacon become the sixth food group?

What’s so good about bacon?!?!

Whatever … The Tyranny of Bacon is about bacon.

We are looking for submissions that are original, tell us how bacon is part of people’s lives, or what life might be like without it … or anything about bacon!

(How can you write a story or poem and include bacon somewhere?)

PLEASE NOTE: We don’t want endless diatribes about the good (and bad) qualities of bacon!

So, we seek

stories, essays and poetry

50 words minimum, 1000 words maximum for all submissions

original, so previously unpublished online or in print (so that includes authors’ websites and blogs)

What your submission must include is bacon in some form. Even just the mention of the word bacon is fine.

Submissions OPEN 8th March 2020 and CLOSE 10th May 2020.
